Homeland Security
A number of initiatives are being implemented
to better prepare the United States for potential terrorist attacks.
Some recent initiatives include:

A Presidential Task Force on
Citizen Preparedness has been established to help prepare individuals
to prepare for potential terrorist attacks. The Task Force's
primary mission is to identify, review and recommend appropriate
means by which individuals can prepare for the consequences
of any terrorist attack in the United States. The Task
Force's recommendations must be submitted to the President before
the end of 2001.

- Senator Bill Frist (R. Tenn.) has established
a Question & Answer forum on his web site for emergency planners
and citizens to submit questions regarding bioterrorism.

The National Association of Counties (NACo)
has created a Task Force on Homeland Security to provide a link
between counties and federal agencies, including the Office
of Homeland Security at the White House. The mission of
the Task Force is to determine how counties and NACo can help
the federal government, and how the association can assist counties
with security issues.
